Boating Course / Boat Pro
Presented by: Kincardine Power and Sail Squadron
The BOATING COURSE exceeds requirements for the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC), and is required for membership in Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons.
Why do you need the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron Boating Course ?
Is the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) enough? If you cruise or fish on Lake Huron you need more than a Pleasure Craft Operator Card. While the PCOC covers you for introductory boating knowledge for use in protected waters, it does not cover:
-
Navigational skills
skills to get you from here to there even when out of sight of land, and to be able to estimate your current position all with or without out the aid of a GPS -
Seamanship Skills
such as what to do in the case of fog, heavy rain, heavy weather, grounding, person overboard; knots; line selection; handling canals and locks etc. -
Safe Cruising skills
what anchors are good for what bottoms, anchoring securely, using your dock lines in awkward situations etc
Kincardine Power and Sail Squadron offers a course to give you more than the basics. Get both the PCOC and advanced Boating Training in a comprehensive 16 week Boating Course.
Each Fall and Winter Kincardine Power and Sail Squadron offers a comprehensive 16 week course which covers everything necessary to easily pass the PCOC exam and much more.
